[Bxscience Key Club] Key Club Points + June Divisional

Hi everyone!

Sorry for an extra email, but I have an urgent message from your Lieutenant Governor Emma!

There will be a June Divisional on June 10 at either Hunter or HSMSE. The time is still be deciding but will definitely be after school. This is a SPECIAL meeting and we will be painting mandalas for roughly an hour during the Divisional. The finished mandalas will then be used to help decorate nursing homes and hospitals as a great way to help contribute back to our communities. Each mandala set will cost $10. You can either pay for a set for yourself or share a set with a friend.
Fill out this form to show that you want to participate!
Please bring the money to the meeting this week. I need to tell Emma the list of people who have paid the money by June 8. If you can't give the money during the next meeting, we can meet up some other time.

Key Club Service Credits for ARISTA
At the last meeting, Mr. Kind will be signing your ARISTA credit forms. You will only get your forms signed if you have at least 300 points.
You can check your points here, but remember that the points are not all updated right now.
You can find the ARISTA credits forms here.

Remember to fill out the form on what you are bringing to the party at the last Key Club meeting! And remember the raffle!

See ya on Thursday!!!!

[Bxscience Key Club] Last Key Club Meeting...

Hi everyone!

The time has come for us to hold our last Key Club meeting of the school year. In order to celebrate the great year of service we have accomplished, we will be having a party next Thursday. In order to have an AWESOME party, we need to bring food, drinks, and eating utensils. Please help me out and bring in some stuff!
Fill out the form to show what you are bringing.

We will also be holding a raffle. When we go to walks, we always get a couple of shirts and we just don't know what to do with them. In order to put them to good use (and I know you also want them...), we will be raffling them off. Each ticket will be 50 cents and you can buy as many as you want. The money will be donated to a cause that the club will vote later on. Most likely, it will go to one of the Key Club District Project Charities.
So far.. we have these items to raffle off:
Tshirts: March of Dimes, AIDS Walk, Parkinson's Walk, and NAMI Walk
AIDS Walk Hat
AIDS Walk Pin
We might have more stuff to raffle off that are not just from walks so keep a look out for them!

We will also be announcing the new committee heads! So this meeting will also welcome them into their new leadership position.

We are still handing out Key Club tshirts, which we just received. If you still have not picked up your tshirt, please remember to come to this meeting to get it! The tshirts are very nice. :) For those who got their tshirts, let's all wear it next Thursday!

Even though this is the last meeting of the school year, Key Club doesn't end here. We are still active over the summer and we will continue to bombard you with emails! Just kidding, but we will keep you updated on volunteering opportunities over the summer. I also want to plan a day when we can all get together. So remember, once a Key Clubber... always a Key Clubber! :)

See ya on Thursday!

[Bxscience Key Club] EARTH DAY EVENT+SUMMER INTERNSHIP

Hello Key Clubbers!!

1) Next Friday, May 27, LEAP will be hosting our school's annual Earth Day Celebration. This year, however, Ms. Reidy and the administration have decided that they do not want the kids in LEAP to miss school to man the tables and effectively coordinate the event so they will not be letting us out of any of our classes. Therefore, we will only be able to volunteer during our frees and we need YOUR help to make sure that Earth Day is a success!! We have plenty of things to do so this event promises to be fun. All you have to do is come during whichever free period you want to help out, sign your name in with the designated person for your period, and man whatever table needs help. Just to give you an idea of what will be going on, here are some of the tables we will have in the courtyard:

~Earth Day (May 27)

·   Tie-Dye Station: Make and Sell Tie-Dyed Shirts

·   Smoothie Stand: Make and Sell Smoothies

·   Paper Making Station: Teach people how to make Recycled Paper out of Old Paper

·   Agar Balls: Make people pay a dollar to close their eyes and get some agar balls

·   Plant Selling: Sell plant kits

2)  I have recently chanced upon an AMAZING Summer Volunteer opportunity!!

This program is called the Reforestation Stewardship Summer Internship, and all you have to so is attend 2 training sessions and volunteer for 12 hours during the summer for this internship!!

This is a GREAT opportunity for some of you who are really busy and find it hard to obtain all your points during the school year to get a HEAD START this summer and lessen your load next year!! This also sounds like a lot of fun, it's great for the environment, you get ARISTA volunteer credits for this, and it's definitely a BONUS on a college app-->So what's not to love?-->SIGN UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =)

[Bxscience Key Club] updates and upcoming events

Hi Guys

So May 22nd is going to be the Drums Along the Hudson Event. It's going to be different from most events we've volunteered for (in a FUN way :D ). It is a big lengthy though. It starts at 7AM and ends 7PM. There are shifts though ( 7AM-11AM , 10:45AM-2:45PM , 2:30PM-7PM). I know it's a bit lengthy, but they do provide community service hours.
It's going to be at Inwood Hill Park in the Bronx. We're going to enter through the 218th street entrance.

If you're volunteering for this event, this is the form to sign up

also if you're volunteering for this event please go to their website and print out/fill out a volunteer application. You can find the form at this link

JOIN A COMMITTEE~~~
it's important enough for 3 tilde's
Joining a committee is a great way to do some of the background work in Key Club and get more involved! If anything, it gives you some experience and looks better than "key club member" on a college resume.

Here's the link to join a committee :D and I swear this one is the one that works.
Sorry, for past forms that did not work very well.

Yours in Caring and Service
Jae

P.S. Sorry for all the e-mails key club sent out :(

[Bxscience Key Club] Volunteers for Eco-Drive at School

Hi everyone!

During the last meeting, I talked about holding an Eco-Drive at school with JCC. This drive will collect old cellphones, batteries, and eyeglasses because they are be harmful in landfills. This drive will be held from this Wednesday to Friday during lunch periods. I will need at least one Key Clubber at each lunch period and you will get points! Mr. Kind will be there every 4th period. You're job would just be to sit at the collections boxes and answer any questions if needed. I'm assuming you would just say what this is for and what we are collecting.

Please fill out this form to show which lunch periods you can come.
https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEV6VzdiWkZLUmdtZ1V4RC1YQVByOEE6MQ

I NEED YOU GUYS TO TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY ABOUT THIS. THE MORE PEOPLE WHO KNOW, THE MORE WE WILL COLLECT!

Just a heads up, I may be delivering the items from the drive on Friday. Please email back if you are willing to come with me to drop of the items at JCC.

We are also volunteering with JCC at their Eco-Fest. Please open this form to see if you are interested!
https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=dFpwcDJWbkZlWHQ2bFI0VDlpWWR5QlE6MQ#gid=0

Also, I REALLY need volunteers for an event to help kids with spring-themed arts and crafts in a park. I've participated in an event with Jumpstart for winter-themed arts and crafts and it was one of my favorite Key Club event. However, if you signed up for Vision Walk, which is on the same day, you cannot sign up for this event.

For those who were at AIDS walk, yay! we made it through the rain!

[Bronx Science Key Club] Meeting Tomorrow in Teacher's Caf!

Hi everyone!

The Key Club meeting tomorrow will be in the Teacher's Cafeteria because the musical needs to use our room for practice. That's why we had to rush out of the room last week. Sorry!

For those who have ordered a tshirt, remember to bring in the money!
Uncustomized: $9
Customized: $13
The sooner we get the money in, the quicker we can buy the Tshirts and give it to you guys!

(Very Cute) Bears for Autism Walk
The profits will go to the Autism Speaks Foundation! We can only buy the bears if there is a minimum purchase of 72 bears!!!

Project, Public Relations, Scrapbooking, and Fundraising Committee Heads
If you are interested in being a committee head, meet with Jae at the end of the meeting!

We're going to have some games after the meeting, so come with suggestions if you have had any fun ones in the past! I'm bringing two of my personal favorites: human knot (link hands randomly and try to "unknot" ourselves) and zip zap zup (point to a person and pass "zip," "zap," and "zup" throughout the group).

Help kids with spring-themed arts and crafts in the park!
Sign up for event on Sat. May 21 with Jumpstart. We have volunteered with them before (instead it was winter-themed activities) and it was one of my favorite projects! Please sign up, this project needs some love :) I know many of you are unable to because you have signed up for Vision Walk, which is on the same day. To those who are available on that day, just think of the impact you could make on these kids' lives!
We need a project captain for this event (you get extra points)!
Activities: Reading Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar, making butterflies, flowers, planting flowers, face painting and Zumba

See you tomorrow!
