[Bxscience Key Club] Re: Carpe Diem

There's a funeral fund that Diana's friends have organized. since all of our money has already been donated, we can't use any old fundraised money. I'd like to hold a really last minute fundraiser tomorrow outside the auditorium. If you'd like to help out Diana's family, please give me a dollar and I'm going to donate it from key club, unless you'd like to do it yourself. You don't have to have known her to go to the service or donate money. There are many friends close to Diana who are grieving and we should show any support that we can.

Goodnight! See you tomorrow,
Amanda

Tomorrow is the official last day of school. Hallelujah! I hope many of you have found internships and volunteering jobs to keep you busy over the summer. It is very important to do something over the summer to gain experience and make your resume look great for college. It might be too late, but check out this website for some opportunities: http://www.teenlife.com/. Of course, you can still list your KC events. Make sure you keep a list of which events you have gone to, including the date, which organization you volunteered with/for, and how many hours you gave your time.

Theres another event called Tour De Queens on July 8th (https://docs.google.com/a/bxscience.edu/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dDRveGx5aVhQbWMtS0ZwSzdmSG11bHc6MQ#gid=0). Please note that there are two other events that day! The events starts at 8 AM.

The board meeting has been rescheduled to Saturday (before the archery fundraiser) so I can't send out the bunch of things that I promised in yesterdays email. You'll still be able to get to see us sing, dw. A form on the archery fundraiser will be sent out in the next couple of days too!

I'm sure many of you have heard about the death of Diana Wu, class of 2012. She died from a car crash early Saturday morning. Many of her friends are blessed to have known her for her great personality, smile, and spirit. There is a memorial service in school tomorrow at 11:30 AM in the auditorium. If you would like to go, please wear blue because it was her favorite color. One of her friends requested that. I personally didn't know her, but she seems really really lovely. May she rest in peace and may her family overcome such a tragedy...

Please be careful and stay safe. Carpe diem, seize the day, and don't go to sleep mad or upset. Do as much good as you can.

With a heck of a lot of love,
Tam

Hey Bronx Science Key Clubbers, my name is Alex Guo (for those who don't know me) and I graduated from Bronx Science last year. This summer, I am teaching an SAT prep course with Revolution Prep through the program Ivy Insiders. I was wondering if any of you are interested.

The course will start July 9th and classes will be held at NESTm school in lower Manhattan. It is a 3 week intensive course (so you don't have to spend your entire summer in prep school) and is Mon-Thurs the first 2 weeks and Mon-Weds the third week. There will be a total of 6 classes (3 hours each) and 5 proctored practice tests (4 hours each), all held in the morning.

If you are interested, check out my instructor profile and sign up here:http://www.revolutionprep.com/instructors/alexander_g

Use the discount code NY8EARLY to get $100 off (the discounted price is $500, cheaper than all other competing test prep companies in NYC).

I am also doing private tutoring for various academic subjects (I can give you a bigger discount for those if you are interested). FB message me if you have any questions!

If you know anyone who might be interested, could you please help me SPREAD THE WORD (FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO THEM)? :D Thanks!!! :)

[Bxscience Key Club] Last meeting and updates

Good evening!!

I was baking 48 chocolate cupcakes for my latin teacher last night, not for her to eat, but for her surprise party heheheee.

Speaking of cupcakes, please bring any sort of food to the last meeting, which will be THIS Tuesday, in the teacher's cafeteria, after 10th pd sgi. If you cannot bring food, please bring a bottle of soda, cups, plates, or napkins if you are going to the meeting. The meeting will run a little long which is why I would really like for there to be lots of food and drinks. We have a lot of things planned (a senior ceremony, a tribute to someone special, a raffle for anything members have collected over the year (please bring in any extra shirts that you have!), and fooooooood <3!). I expect final very happy happy quarters!

I have closed the form for the beach gathering because I have decided that there will be a formal date (Thursday June 21) and a rain date (Saturday June 23). The beach is Rockaway. And thanks for the responses to the odd second question... I didn't realize. But its okay because you guys used it as a suggestion box :) and YES there will be a date for us to go to the beach, during the summer. AND you can invite your friends, preferably Key Clubbers.

Do not fear for the end of Key Club during the summer. There is a divisional on the 20th! The location is tbd. I'll be sending weekly emails with event updates as well.

If you want your club credits for arista, make sure to bring in the service credit forms tomorrow! Here is the link: http://bxsciarista.webs.com/ The forms are at the bottom of the page. I will have time during the meeting for everyone to pass their forms so that Ms. Kim can sign them.

Please send in articles to Connie and Qing!!

Have an amazing summer and hopefully I'll see most of you at events and around :)

-Your Prez,

Amanda Tam

It doesnt take much time, and you get 10 points/ article!!

Once again here are the guidlines! (theyre not intimidating or hard at all, trust me!)

- 200 to 350 words per article (if you go overboard by a little, or miss it by a little, its okay)
- include at least ONE quotation from a person who attended the event
- write in passive voice for the FIRST PARAGRAPH of the article
- write in first person for the LAST FEW PARAGRAPHS (1-3 paragraphs) reflecting on your personal experience at the event
- attach pictures to the email if you have any! (of yourself, group picture, scenery, anything!)

Email your article to our Committee heads Qing Lin and Connie Liang!
(To: linq2@bxscience.edu and liangc4@bxscience.edu)

SUBMIT PLEASE! (hopefully effective nagging)
