[Bxscience Key Club] Key Club Updates

Hello everyone!


This will be the countdown to my final emails as the Bronx Science Key Club President... :( 

So here are the updates:

1. HOODIES
Yes they came in today. I'm sorry about the confusion of whether or not there was a meeting. I was hearing left and right whether there were afterschool activities that in the end it became rather chaotic. I apologize. We will be distributing the hoodies next meeting so be sure to come! I hope you remember your crazy nicknames :)

2. BLOG
Amanda Tam, Kevin Chen, and the Public Relations & Advocacy Committee have worked together to produce a blog to share both articles and pictures of what we do as a club. I am definitely wowed by what can be accomplished by members simply taking the initiative to bring their visions to life. They set a great example that anyone can pave the way for something new. I greatly encourage you to all check it out and contribute both articles and photos! If you're interested in working in a blog, this committee can definitely be the place for you!

LTC IS TOMORROW!
For those who are attending, remember we meet in the auditorium at 12 pm.
For those who will not be attending, I hope to see you there next year. LTC has been a great experience and it was definitely the moment that propelled me to become the President. As a sophomore, I attended the Presidents' workshop even though it was my first year in the club. Key Club is about becoming leaders and I hope you take this to heart.

Okay so there's a correction. It ends at 11:45am not pm they would never make you volunteer for that long. And if you are going to the 13.1 marathon you will not be able to make it for the Barnes and Noble volunteering. So if you had volunteered for both please contact me on which one you would like to volunteer at.

This is a great way to support other Key Clubs and be involved in other divisions. Let us know how it goes and maybe we can hold a similar fundraiser!

For those who were not at the divisional today, we had a discussion and we wanted more relationships with other New York Key Club Divisions.

Well here's one from Cardozo Key Club... For you Hunger Games fans :)

Hey guys!!! i have some bad news. I know that a lot have you have already signed up for the MillionTreesNYC on march 31st (weekend of LTC) BUT when i contacted Miss Hannah to let her know a week ago, she told me that another group had signed up before us and that all the spots were taken. Even though i told her all the way back in January i guess another group grabbed the opportunity before us :(. I'm really sorry you guys. But dont worry we have a lot of other fun events coming up so make sure to sign up for them. Here's one!

The scholarship will be given to one or two deserving applicants (ranging from $500 to $1,000) and all applications will be due by April 30, 2012. I hope that you all take advantage of this wonderful opportunity! If you would like a copy of the application form, just email me at emmacheng.ltg@nydkc.org!

[Bxscience Key Club] Project Mentor Tutoring 3/19 3/26

Hello Key Clubbers,


I just wanted to inform you that the coordinator had a mishap and I got the wrong information for the dates of the March tutoring.
The event will happen not 3/19 and 3/26 but 3/20 and 3/27.
So they will be moved from Mondays in March to Tuesdays.

[Bxscience Key Club] Key Club Public Relations Tumblr Page

Hello everyone!

So I'm going to let President Elect Amanda Tam do the talking:

Public Relations has made a tumblr page to read and submit articles.

You can now submit informal (and formal) articles, opinions, ideas, photos, videos, and questions about key club!

Right now, there are only formal articles that members have written throughout the whole year. Submit one of your own! Title the post with the date of the event and name of the event and tag the post with your name :) I want everyone to know who submitted things (or you can do it anonymously if you're a little shy.) A lot of people use tumblr and its another great way to connect with the club. Follow the page, run by the Public Relations Committee, so you can read and see articles, photos, and videos. Shoot Amanda Tam (tama@bxscience.edu) an email if you have any questions.

[Bxscience Key Club] March Divisional!

Our next (and last divisional of this year) divisional is on THURSDAY, MARCH 22. Yes I know... We have a meeting that day and it's the same day as the first day of the S!NG show. 


I'll be going to represent our club and to wish Emma farewell as this will be her last divisional with her as Lieutenant Governor. We will have a regular meeting for those who want to come. We will cut the meeting short so we can arrive on time.

Hi Division 11 Key Clubbers! You are all invited to attend our March Divisional meeting/party onThursday, March 22 from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The event will be at the High School for Math, Science and Engineering (240 Convent Avenue, New York NY 10031). This will be my FINAL meeting as the Division 11 Lt. Governor, so I highly encourage you all to come and celebrate the end of an awesome service year. Feel free to bring any snacks, drinks or food! We will collect orders for Division 11 hoodies, go over any last-minute details for Leadership Training Conference,give out monthly divisional awards and other fun activities. It's really been honor serving as the Lt. Governor of Division 11 and I would like to sincerely thank you all for your hard work over the past year. Despite the mass amount of emails I have been sending out lately, we are missing half of the orders for hoodies. 

PLEASE BRING YOUR MONEY IN TOMORROW!!!

I WILL REITERATE THAT IF YOU DO NOT BRING IT TOMORROW, 
WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ORDER YOUR HOODIE AND THE PRICE OF HOODIES WILL INCREASE FOR EVERYONE SO IT IS IN EVERYONE'S BEST INTEREST FOR YOU TO GET YOUR MONEY IN TOMORROW!!

If possible, please get the money to us before the meeting because I may not be able to stay for the meeting as I have to leave to place the orders on time! 

Also note, our meeting will start IMMEDIATELY after 9th period tomorrow.

Hello Key Clubbers!!


I am sorry to be sending out so many emails about hoodies lately but is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that we get this done in a TIMELY and ORGANIZED manner.

The prices of the hoodies have changed--indicated below in red. If you already paid and what some money back, you will get it back.

For those who have not paid, in order to receive the hoodies on time for LTC,

WE NEED AT LEAST 90 PEOPLE TO PAY THEIR MONEY IN CASH BEFOREHAND.
 
I will be collecting money TOMORROW during: 
  • 1st in the library (Find me in a cubicle/computer!!)
  • 7th in the library
  • 9th in room 333
  • 10th in front of the music room (beginning of period) and in the foreign language department (rest of period)
  • You also have all of the officer's schedules below-FIND US THROUGHOUT THE DAY!! 
  • In addition, feel free to give your money to HERMAN LI or AMANDA TAM if it is easier for you to access them throughout the day.

[Bxscience Key Club] Key Club - KONY 2012

Hello everyone,

During this Key Club meeting, we will be screening the Kony 2012 video from the suggestions of many Key Clubbers. I know many of you have heard of it through all the hype created by the video on Facebook.

I hope to hold our Movie Fundraiser idea (which we brainstormed at a recent club meeting) for this screening. That is why I am asking for each person to donate something to watch. The money we raise will be donated to Invisible Children, which is holding this movement to capture Kony. I am not setting a requirement because I do not want to force you do anything but please donate if you support Kony's arrest. Whether that is a few coins leftover from lunch or even a $20 bill. You can donate after the video if you do not know what this is about. I want you to donate only if you agree with the ideas.

After we watch the video, I would like us to have a discussion. This video really displays how the youth can unite to make a difference. I want us to talk how we, the youth, can make a difference. What can we do?

At the next meeting, we will be putting our ideas into action, whether that is to call policy makers or write letters.

I also want Key Clubbers who have already heard of Kony to speak about their thoughts before and after the video. I want you to help lead the discussion. I strongly believe that Key Club creates leaders and this is a chance for you to exercise your voice. How will you help Kony be captured?

So who is Kony? Come to the meeting and you will see.
