[Bxscience Key Club] A preview of May!

Hey guys! :)
 
So as April is drawing to a close, we will be having events in May. This Saturday for example, there is an Iron Man Movie 3 Fundraiser in Douglaston which is actually an event of Cardozo Key Club. On the same day, we have the Red Hook Family Festival.
On the 10th there is ANOTHER interclubbing event called the Multi Cultural Event! This event is being held by HSMSE (High School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering) in City College. You can bring food, or volunteer! (You can get a discounted ticket if you do :) )
 
If you're interested in bringing food, sign up here.
(For grade, put Guest. In the Recipe text box, put Bronx Science KC. Tickets for food donors will be $4)
 
I will be actually sending another form for volunteering out soon!
 
The week after will be a whole day of WALKS!
In the morning there will be the NAMI Walk in which we will volunteer as course marshals. Right after the NAMI Walk there will be the Kids Walk for Kids with Cancer in Central Park.
Note: If you plan on volunteering for the Kids Walk, you will NOT be able to go to NAMI Walk.
 
We will be having Japan Day the next day! We will be sending an email very soon regarding the details and breakdown of this event. As for AIDs Walk, the volunteer form has closed but you can still sign up to be a walker! We usually have a big group for walking in this particular event so contribute your spirit by signing up!! :)
 
Another big event coming up will the Amazing Race 3! If you didn't do it yet, you can still sign up to participate in teams of 4!! Admission will be $10 for each participant.
 
If you are interested in becoming part of planning divisional events, sign up for the Divisional Events Committee! Sunday the 5th will be the last day for you to apply!!

[Bxscience Key Club] Warmer weather= More Outdoor Events :)

Hi guys!! :)
 
First of all, even with the special schedule on Thursday, we will have a meeting, so come to the music room 334 at 3:45!! 
 
So, this month is coming to an end but don't worry! We'll be finding more events haha :)
But as of right now, we have a Puppetry Arts Event, called the 5th Ave Family Festival where you set up stands in preparation for....a festival! :)
And then maybe you're hungry after the event. But we have prepared. Because we have the HOTPOT FUNDRAISER!!! We have made the prices a lot more reasonable, and you can come whenever you like! (from 5pm-8pm)
 
On Sunday, we will have the March of Dimes where we will be walking for the cause of ensuring healthy pregnancies for moms. It will be in the Lincoln Center Area, more information will be on the form.
 On the 30th, we will be having a Spring Food Fair at our school in the cafeteria after 10th period! I'll be sending out an email with a form for those who are interested in making some food for our table!

As for the events in May, we have a lot of walks coming up! TIME TO EXERCISEEE! :) First, we have the NAMI Walk which is a walk that supports mental health and brings awareness to those who are affected by mental illnesses. In this event, we will be course marshalls as well as helping out with registration. RIGHT AFTER NAMI Walk we have the Kids Walk for Kids with Cancer in Manhattan. We will be walking and volunteering in this event. (As for the waivers, if you have them you can give them to us NOW...at the meeting)
We will have Japan Day the day after on the 12th. There will be morning shifts and afternoon shifts in helping out at the tents in this festival. This festival displays Japanese culture in the food, clothing and everything else in the stands. 
 
After eating all of that Japanese food, you can burn it off by walking at AIDs Walk the week after! The volunteering form is closed, so here is the form for those who are interested in walking! But you have to sign up online under our team name which is Bronx Science Key Club!!!! It's going to be a big event with many key clubs from other schools, so we can show some spirit by calling out the others :)
If you feel as though you did not burn enough calories in this walk, you can also participate in the SPRING AMAZING RACE 3!!! It will take place in Manhattan on the 25th of May. For admission you need to pay 10$ - this will cover participation costs.
Another big event coming up is actually in Washington D.C. from June 30th to July 7th and it's called ICON. ICON is basically an event where Key Clubs from all over the country meet up and hold conferences. More details and information will be announced.
 
So, after allllll these events, you can submit articles to Katie at xuek@bxscience.edu !!! The more articles are submitted the sooner our first newsletter of the new Key Club will be "published" :)
 
P.S. There will be a dance at Garden School THIS FRIDAY from 7pm to 10pm to raise money for imalive.org which is a website that offers chat service as an alternate to a suicide hotline. They will give the money to QPR Institute, an organization that trains people (like firefighters, counselors, police officers) how to deal with suicidal people. They have a DJ at the dance, a band, and the admission is only $7! If you are interested, sign up here!

[Bxscience Key Club] So many events, and reminders!

Heyyyy everyone! :)
 
With the first half of this month already over, we are finding more and more events. In last week's meeting, Lisa has briefly listed the upcoming events such as the Revitalize Highland Park this weekend. And if you're not a fan of being in the dirt you can always sign up for Vision Walk, where we will be volunteering.
 
On Sunday, we will also have a Chinatown BID Earth Day event where you will plant flowers and trees to beautify Columbus Park. However that form is now closed. Also on Sunday, we will have the Green Festival.(Form is closed as well)
The Inmotion Benefit Auction will take place on Monday the 22nd, so you can still sign up! You can also sign up for the 5th Ave Family Festival next Saturday on the 27th. On the following day (Sunday, 28th) we will have the March of Dimes.
 
Anyways, another big walk is coming up and it is the AIDs Walk in May (YAYYYYYYY). Our club walks and volunteers at this event and as of right now, the volunteer form has been made. If you're interested, you can sign up here: AIDs Walk 5/19
 
REMINDERS:
The Committee Heads Interview Sign Up Form is STILL open! It will close on Friday! I encourage you on signing up/applying to be a committee head because you get more involved with Key Club. Working in a committee shows you the backstage workings of our club, and we are open to new minds.
 
If you are going to Japan Day (and you have signed up on our form) give in your waiver forms to me, Vincent, Melissa, Lisa or Katie by Friday! IF YOU DO NOT GIVE IN YOUR WAIVER FORM BY FRIDAY, YOU CAN'T GO. (And we would really want you to go haha) here is the link to the waiver form:
 
 
Since Friday is such a popular date we will also be having a Divisional at Hunter High School at 5:30pm. We will meet at the flagpole after school at 4pm and we will go together as a group. (You can come to the school separately as well.)
And lastly, we have our Hotpot Fundraiser next Saturday on the 27th in Elmhurst at 5pm. We have tried our best in giving the best prices, so check it out! It will be a fun event where we're all relaxing and chillingg. But I bet we're used to that anyway since it's almost the end of the year. :)

So for the committee head interviews, you can pick more than one committee, but you must fill one form for each committee. However, you can only become head of one committee. So, in the additional comments section on the form, please state which committee is your first, second, and third choice on the respective form.

Basically,  if advocacy is your first choice, put FIRST CHOICE in the additional comments section of your ADVOCACY form. If public relations is your second choice, put SECOND CHOICE in the additional comments section of your PR form!

 

Each person will be interviewed for ALL of their choices. In the first "round" however, we will only consider your first choice application and interview. After we have decided who will be head of which committees, and if there are any spaces left, we will consider your second and third choices!

I'm sending another order request to customink so if you have any last minute hoodie requests e-mail me and find me to give me the money. Same prices $25 for an uncustomized and $28 for a customized. You have until the end of Monday to give me the GREENS.
As per usual, give it to any of the board members, past or current, and it will get to me somehow. Last resort, I will be at Room 334 (The Key Club room) after 9th for the first 10 minutes on Monday. So you better get their real quick so that you don't miss me!

Usual scenario, if I don't get the money I can't order your hoodie. Sorry! I can only do that if you are the very image of trust and innocence.

Also, if you are missing a hoodie e-mail me with your name, hoodie size, and whether your hoodie was customized or not. If your hoodie was customized e-mail me what the customization was.

[Bxscience Key Club] Farewell, Daylight, EVENTS

Hello Bronx Science Key Clubbers!

This will be my last email to the club. Irena will be sending them from now on. Thank you all who came to the last meeting for the 2012-2013 board and for being part of such a successful year. I really appreciate the fact that you guys stayed so late. I apologize for the incredibly long speech and meeting. I had a lot to say :) Thank you for giving my mama a warm welcome too! The next meeting will be on next Thursday and that will be the new board's first meeting so go support them! 

Events:

I wish you guys a lovely and even more fantastic year. Good luck to the new board! My final message: believe in yourself and enjoy Bronx Science Key Club before the daylight comes to an end.
