[Bxscience Key Club] #elimin8 #candy8) #hall0w33n

Hello!

The final days are approaching until Halloween which means thinking of and finalizing our costume and festivities! Since there won't be a meeting before Halloween, this email is going to be a bit long and dedicated to the Eliminate Project.

Of course I'm super excited for the kit kats and twix but I'm more excited about spreading The Eliminate Project message to adults, friends and teachers. Please put all of your passion into raising at least $10 per box but anything is something!. I want us to beat New Jersey and Florida and be the biggest donor to the project.

OR you can just check out the eliminate project website for yourself! The boxes will be due after Halloween and yes, you can still hand in your dues (just do it RIGHT AWAY)

I know it will be a struggle to knock on doors and not only ask for candy but for a donation. Last year, I went to around 10 houses and I got donations from every single one of them. I raised over $10 in less than an hour. I didn't wear a costume but I explained what the project was. I looked for decorated houses because I knew the homeowners would be in a jolly spirit and would be more willing to donate. Here was my pitch line: Hi! Would you like to help eliminate tetanus in foreign countries? It is a horrible but highly curable disease. I then stuck out my box with a big smile and a watery eyes and the donor looked at it and determined its legitimacy, and fetched his/her wallet. Then I thanked the person a gazillion times and smiled a super huge smile like :D and grabbed candy if he/she was still offering (though I don't think I got a lot of candy), tried not to trip down the stairs, and went on to another house. **Make sure you know some facts! Like a baby dies every 9 minutes from mnt. $1.80 can save a mother and her future children.

The next meeting will be in the Auditorium. Please bring any candy that you do not wish to eat. We are going to participate in a Halloween Candy Buy Back program in which uneaten candy is given to a dentist who sends the candy to Operation Gratitude or other operations for soldiers overseas to enjoy! :)

Best of luck <3 Thank you for helping eliminate mnt. Even if you dont get any donations, you will do a great job by spreading the message. Stay safe on Sunday and Monday!

[Bxscience Key Club] Divisional, Meeting, Events

Good morning!

The meeting on Thursday will most likely be in the auditorium. There is parent teacher conference on Thursday so there might be a possibility that we will get kicked out of the auditorium. If that happens, please go to room 334!

There is a divisional at High School for Math, Science, and Engineering (240 CONVENT AVE, NEW YORK, NY 10031) on Wednesday from 5:30-7:30. We will go together as a group. Please meet at the flagpole at 4:30 PM. We will be taking the D there. Check out this map

Please sign up well before the date of the event, because the list of people attending needs to be sent in.

If you took pictures at the Breast Cancer Walk, please send your good ones to bxkcscrapbook@gmail.com. Contact that email address for further questions. If you would like to write an article about the walk or your The Eliminate Project box, please send it to linq2@bxscience.edu or liangc4@bxscience.edu.

[Bxscience Key Club] Updates for the week!

Hiya!

Happy fall weather :) The falling of leaves marks the start of our UNICEF Trick-Or-Treat for The Eliminate Project, the biggest one ever. Last year we raised $6000. This year, I want to beat that and make this the biggest project ever. I want to raise $8000 to help any relatives in foreign countries and to ease the pain for loved ones. Please start asking for donations from anyone! I find it easiest when friends are with you. If you did not get your box yet, you will receive it at the next meeting. Decorate your boxes! They're supposed to look like characters and if yours is really well designed, you can enter this contest! If you win, our club will be so proud of you :')

Please bring in your dues $13 (you get extra points if you hand them in by the 11th!!!) and your t-shirt money if you ordered one $17. The shirts will not be ordered until all the money is given in.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, Oct 11 in 334 immediately after 10th pd.

There is a JDRF walk on Sunday which you should definitely go to!!!

Have a lovely Columbus Day,
Amanda Tam <3
