[Bxscience Key Club] [Bx Sci Key Club] Registering for Leadership Training Conference

Hello everyone,

Hope you had a successful midyear week as we move on into the second term and congratz to all the second term seniors!

Other than being closer to summer, we all have the Leadership Training Conference to look forward to. For those who are no familiar with LTC, it is a convention held from Fri. March 30 - Sun. April 1 in a Holiday Inn in Albany, NY. Key Clubbers from the New York District convene for a weekend full of workshops, speakers, voting for district officers, and getting to know each other. It's a great way to realize that Key Club is bigger than just our own Bronx Science, or even Division 11. I was stunned by how large Key Club was when I first attended and just imagine that there are other district conventions happening so there are even more Key Clubbers than the ones you see. We will be leaving together from school on a bus at approximately 12:30 pm because school ends early because of Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Here's the tentative schedule (http://conference.nydkc.org/schedule.html, yes we have dances!) and entertainment (http://conference.nydkc.org/speakers.html). Take a look at these pages. As for the workshops, they can range from ones covering club officer position (if you're interested in a specific position, this is your chance to take a peek at what it is and prepare for elections! - I did that my sophomore year ;D) to finding events for Key Club and to even improvisation! There's a wide range that will suit anyone's interests. You are also included in the process of voting for next year's district officer.

Now that you know what LTC is, how do you attend?
1. Decide whether you want to attend. We have 25 spots available but 8 current and new officers must attend so only 17 spots remain. Make sure you REALLY want to go. This is not a place to have fun. It is a place to learn more about Key Club.
2. Bring a check for $165 addressed to the Riverdale Kiwanis Foundation. Our sponsoring club has been so kind to cover $85 of the original $250 fee for every Key Clubber attending.
3. Place that check in an envelope labeled with: full name, osis, official class, email, and phone number in case we need to contact you for any reason. Do not lick and seal the envelope. Just use tape so we can open it and check if your check is correct and then close it again.
4. You must meet the cutoff of 200 points or 175 if you're a freshman. Make sure you check your points. If we find out that you do not meet the requirement, you will not be attending. If you attended a recent event and it has not been inputted, email me or Secretary Jessica Chan (chanm9@bxscience.edu) to confirm if those points would put you over the cutoff. This points requirement is to ensure members who regulary attend Key Club activities represent us at LTC.
5. Bring the check in the envelope to us this THURSDAY. In addition to the points cutoff, a condition for who will attend will be based on FIRST COME FIRST SERVE!
My goal is to have all who want to attend to bring the check in on Thursday. After we have the people who are attending, we will have a short meeting afterwards to discuss LTC procedures.
I want to submit our registration ASAP so that we can get the better rooms and dining seats. Remember, first come first serve also apply to that so please bring in your checks this THURSDAY.

Chaperone
We also need one more adult chaperone for LTC. If you are planning to attend, ask your parents or an adult relative if they would be interested. This is a chance for them to see what Key Club is like and to understand why you have dedicated so much of your time to it. Here's a handout explaining the responsibilities of a chaperone (http://conference.nydkc.org/register.html - click on advisor checklist: requirements). The Riverdale Kiwanis Club will pay the entire cost of a chaperone coming along so there is no cost for them. If you have someone who is interested, please indicate that on the envelope you are turning in with the check.

Hoodie Design
When we go to LTC, we always arrive with our latest hoodies. WE NEED HOODIE DESIGN! Please use Custom Ink (http://www.customink.com/) to design an attractive hoodie. We will be voting on the best design. Designs are due on Friday, February 10. Many of you have been asking about hoodies and this is your chance to have a say in what we are wearing. :) Email me the design.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me at victoria.li415@gmail.com

Best and remember to bring in those checks on Thursday if you plan on attending!
Victoria

Changes to Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

Is this email not displaying properly?
View it in your browser.

Dear Google user,

We're getting rid of over 60 different privacy policies across Google and replacing them with one that's a lot shorter and easier to read. Our new policy covers multiple products and features, reflecting our desire to create one beautifully simple and intuitive experience across Google.

We believe that this stuff matters so please take a few minutes to read our updated Privacy Policy and Terms of Service at http://www.google.com/policies. These changes will take effect on 1 March, 2012.

One policy, one Google experience
Easy to work across Google Tailored for you Easy to share and collaborate
Easy to work across Google

Our new policy reflects a single product experience that does what you need, when you want it to. Whether you're reading an email that reminds you to schedule a family get-together or finding a favourite video that you want to share, we want to ensure that you can move across Gmail, Calendar, Search, YouTube or whatever your life calls for, with ease.

Tailored for you

If you're signed in to Google, we can do things like suggest search queries – or tailor your search results – based on the interests that you've expressed in Google+, Gmail and YouTube. We'll better understand which version of Pink or Jaguar you're searching for and get you those results faster.

Easy to share and collaborate

When you post or create a document online, you often want others to see and contribute. By remembering the contact information of the people you want to share with, we make it easy for you to share in any Google product or service with minimal clicks and errors.

Protecting your privacy hasn't changed

Our goal is to provide you with as much transparency and choice as possible through products like Google Dashboard and Ad Preferences Manager, alongside other tools. Our privacy principles remain unchanged. And we'll never sell your personal information or share it without your permission (other than rare circumstances like valid legal requests).

Have questions?
We have answers.

Visit our FAQ at http://www.google.com/policies/faq to read more about the changes. (We reckoned our users might have a question or twenty-two.)

Notice of Change

1 March, 2012 is when the new Privacy Policy and Terms will come into effect. If you choose to keep using Google once the change occurs, you will be doing so under the new Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Please do not reply to this email. Mail sent to this address cannot be answered. Also, never enter your Google Account password after following a link in an email or chat to an untrusted site. [Bxscience Key Club] KEY CLUB Updates!

Hello everyone!

This email will include 1. Election 2. Divisional 3. Upcoming Events.

*****
This is just a reminder that this Thursday will be the last meeting for elections. We will be electing treasurer and editor. We have many candidates running so arrive by 3:45 pm. That's 10 minutes after SGI ends. I encourage you to come to the Auditorium before SGI if you can.

1. If you arrive during the middle of an election, as in you missed the beginning speeches, you will not be allowed to vote. It is unfair to the candidates. You will have to wait for the next election.
2. Please do not talk, do homework, or even play cards during speeches! It's incredibly rude to candidates who took the time and courage to get up in front of you all to make a speech. Imagine if you were in their position.
3. Bring you bags and jackets to the meeting so you will not have to go to your locker and then go to the buses. This saves time for you and allows you to stay to the end of the meeting. Remember, the auditorium is right at the main entrance. It is extremely easy for you to get to the buses from there. I promise you; you will not miss them.
4. ASK QUESTIONS! :D They are your future leaders of Key Club. This is a great way for you to get to know how they think.
5. Do not, do not, and do not bring people who do not belong in Key Club to elections. They are not allowed to vote.

[Bxscience Key Club] IMPORTANT Election Information

Hello Key Clubbers,

This Thursday will be our second round of elections. In order to make sure it goes smoothly, please read everything below:

1. Arrive by 3:45 pm. We will start immediately. You have 10 minutes from the end of SGI to get there. You have 5 minutes to get to class; this should not be difficult. If you arrive after the election has started, you will be set aside and be allowed to join once we start the next election for a different position. Arrive on time so that you are not caught in this difficult situation.
2. If you are free during SGI, come to the Auditorium before SGI so we can get seated quickly. Board members will be there also.
3. Please bring you bags/jackets with you to the Auditorium. I know many of you have to catch the bus. We have many candidates running but we will finish by 5 pm, and you still have time to catch the buses because the Auditorium is at the main entrance. If you have all your belongings with you, you can catch the bus easily. It's just a walk outside the door.
4. Sit in the front and avoid leaving seats empty. I explained at the last meeting that if we sit together without any empty seats, it will be easy for us to collect all the ballots. This will help the elections go smoothly and end faster so you can catch the bus. You should be sitting closer to the candidates so you can see them more clearly and they can hear you when you ask questions.
5. Do not be afraid to ask questions. They will be your leaders next year. Get to know them! Here are some suggestions: What are your strengths and weaknesses? How do you plan to overcome your weaknesses? Why did you choose to run specifically for this position? What ideas do you have to improve Key Club next year? Of course, you can ask other questions which you feel are appropriate.

We will start with a short renomination for Editor position. We still have candidate openings left for this job. The job of Editor will entail updating our club website (www.bxscikeyclub.weebly.com) and producing a regularly published newsletter. Editor Naurin will contact candidates later on to let you know more details on the job. Please remember that the Editor election will take place next Thursday. If you have any questions on the position of Editor, you can either me or Naurin at naurin.shaki@yahoo.com.
A Vice President Reelection and Secretary Election will follow after. The Vice President ballots were reexamined last meeting and we realized we had miscounted. The Board apologizes for this mistake and we will make the following elections proceed more smoothly. Only candidates Jae Hwi Kwon and Jessica Chan will be running for Vice President because they were the top two. Again, we apologize so please help us in holding these following elections by following the instructions I posted at the beginning of the email.

Again, remember not to bring people who are not a part of Key Club. This is exclusively for Key Club members. We do not want to worry about this when counting votes.

Yours in Caring and Service,
Victoria Li

[Bxscience Key Club] KEY CLUB PRES and VP ELECTION

Hello eveyone!

Hope you had a great (and restful) break! And we're in the year 2012 (congratz seniors)!

But in Bronx Science we always swing back into things really fast so..

We will be holding our President and Vice President Elections this THURSDAY in the AUDITORIUM so we can vote together as a club. We have had this problem before of people bringing in friends outside of Key Club to vote for certain members. Please do not do this. Honesty is the best policy so please adhere to this rule.

So remember to come and support the candidates who you think will be the best. Remember, YOU are voting for YOUR next Key Club leaders. The following 2 meetings will also be dedicated to elections so please show up!

See you all again!
Victoria Li
