[Bxscience Key Club] Bronx Science Key Club: Points Up to Date!

Hello Keyclubbers!

I hope you've all been having a good break so far. I just wanted to let you guys know that the points have been updated steadily over the last several days of break and they're finally up to date!
------

I'd like to point out some basic things, and new things about the points spreadsheet if you havent been checking up on it lately, or not at all:

  • They're broken down by year (freshman, sophomore, junior, senior) and organized by last name. Though, it might easiest to find yourself, though, by using ctrl + f.
  • Points are generally granted under these guide lines:
    • Interclubbing +10
    • Rain/Extreme weather +10
    • 1 Hour +5
    • $10 = +10
    • Project Captain +5
  • Your row is highlighted in gold  if you have acquired over 300 points.
  • If the event/ meeting is not yet inputted, the name of the event/meeting on the spreadsheet will be in red. (for example, meeting 12/22/11 is currently in red on all the spreadsheets...)
-----

I urge you guys to check your points (on http://bxscikeyclub.weebly.com/ )
to check for whether:
  • your information is THERE and inputted correctly (name, osis, homeroom, email, etc)
  • you have received credit for all the events and meetings you have attended
  • how many points you have (remember you need 300 points to recieve credit for this club!)
Very very important to check up on your points, as I was going through them, I noticed I had to add a few people in, because they were not on the spreadsheets before. So please do check and if there are any mistakes, concerns or questions about the points sheets or the points system in general, please dont hesitate to email me at chanm9@bxscience.edu

-----
Sorry for keeping you guys waiting for so long for a thorough update of our points sheets, but I hope you understand that it is a lot to update, with only one secretary and a kind vice president to help her.

Anyway, just wanted to share the good news about the points spreadsheets being up to date. :) Enjoy the rest of the break everyone! Rest up and stay warm!

[Bxscience Key Club] UPDATES~~~~~~~~

Hello My Fellow Key Clubbers :)

This is going to be a very exciting week!

First off...

WE HAVE THE DECEMBER DIVISIONAL / DIVISIONAL STUFFED ANIMAL FUNDRAISER EVENT TUESDAY (12/20)
It will be held at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School (how many of you actually knew it even had a Fiorello H. in the title?)
and will be from 5:30PM to 7:30PM.
It is located on 100 Amsterdam Ave NY, NY 10023.
We will meet after SGI at the flagpoles in front of the main entrance and leave promptly afterwards.
We will be taking the D train down to columbus circle and then taking the 1 train, 1 stop uptown then walking the rest of the way.
REMINDER: For those of you who did not buy a stuffed animal, you can still come and stuff animals for others
BUT YOU CANNOT TAKE ANY!!!! That would be stealing! and stealing is not nice!

Secondly...

Bronx Science FOOD FAIR (12/21)
Where else would it be but at Bronx Science :D? It will begin after SGI in the lunchroom.
If you would like you can also come down during SGI and help set up :)~
If you plan on bringing food please sign up here
When you bring in your food YOU MUST FILL OUT THE FORM ATTACHED TO THIS E-MAIL
The form just shows all the allergens that are in your delicious concoction and how it should be kept so it doesn't spoil.

WHEN BRINGING IN THE FOOD, YOU MUST DELIVER THE FOOD TO THE FOOD FAIR TABLE BEFORE OR DURING FIRST PERIOD
or else we won't be able to sell it because  it's not registered, not to mention the fact that you would have to carry it around ALL DAY and that's just
annoying and it would probably spoil and turn people in to ZOMBIES.

That's all for now :)
Cya Later Alligators~

Yours in Care and Service
Jae

REMEMBER TO BRING IN YOUR COMPLETED DIVISONAL STUFFED ANIMAL FORM AND MONEY TO MEETING TOMORROW!
The event will be on Tuesday, December 20. If you cannot go but still would like to donate a toy, you can order it and have someone else stuff it for you.
I have attached the form to this email.

[Bxscience Key Club] IMPORTANT Changes to Stuffed Animal Ordering Form

Hi everyone,

The cow and moose are now out of stock so if you have handed in the form to me for those stuffed animals, you will have to change your order. I will be contacting you soon.

Instead of the cow and moose, we now have the UNICORN AND KOALA! I actually like koalas better than cows and mooses (or moose?) :)

I have now attached the NEW ordering form so please use that one. You can give the form to me during the school day (schedule posted below) or during the next meeting. The other option is to tell me what you plan to order. But if you don't have the money, you HAVE TO PROMISE that you will bring it at the divisional. I recommend that you prepare the completed forms and money in an envelope labeled with your full name, osis, homeroom, and email and give it to me during school day or at meeting.

(By periods) - give it to me before periods (check to see if I'm in the classroom), or right after the periods ends, you can email me in advance to let me know that you are coming.

You MUST have this pass in order to get out of class, if your teacher does not allow you because of a test or something, I cannot change that. If you have a free period that day, you will not need this pass.

I will also be giving the passes out on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday if I see that people still need the passes.

And remember, continue collecting money for UNICEF! We will be collecting the money at the Thursday meeting after the Thanksgiving break. Also, we have received Key Club membership cards and pins for those who have paid dues. We will be giving those out at that meeting also!

[Bxscience Key Club] Bring in your UNICEF box tomorrow!

Hi everyone!

This is a quick reminder for you to bring in your UNICEF box tomorrow. Make sure your name and homeroom is on there so that we know who we should give credit to, remember that we give a point for each dollar so keep collecting! After you give in the box, we can give you another so that you can continue collecting money to save dying babies. Please also remind your friends to bring back their boxes. Our goal is to have everyone bring in at least $10 and that should help us reach (and hopefully surpass) our goal of $2000!

After the meeting tomorrow, there will be the November Divisional specifically geared towards new members so that they can learn more about what Key Club International is. I definitely recommend you to come because when I learned how large Key Club actually was, I wanted to get more involved. This will end at 6 pm so you all have time to catch the late Vallo buses.

Division 11's Amazing Race!!!
This will be our 2nd Amazing Race and we are inviting everyone from our division to participate. The Amazing Race consists of a large-scale scavenger hunt that sends various teams on a search for different checkpoints, where they will face fun challenges. This year's event will be in Flushing, Queens, with locations ranging from Corona Park to the Main Street area. Amazing Race will be on Saturday, November 26th during Thanksgiving vacation (with a rain date of December 3rd) from 12 - 4:30 pm.

The registration fee will be $10 for participants and $7 for volunteers (if you would like to help out and receive hours, please fill out the volunteer registration form a.s.a.p. because there is a limited number of spaces). Remember to bring the money with you on the day of the event. All proceeds will be donated to a District Charity and FREE HOT CHOCOLATE will be given to all attendees. The first team to reach the finish line will win a prize and, at the end, we will have other fun activities like a raffle and a joint meal at New World Mall, which you may all attend.

If you want to...
COMPETE in the Amazing Race - click here
VOLUNTEER in the Amazing Race - click here
Please read both of these forms before registering because more infomation is included in there. Hope you all sign up!

See you tomorrow!

[Bxscience Key Club] Updates! Updates!

Hi Key Clubbers!

Last Thursday, Adam Braun and the Pencils of Promise team came to speak in the auditorium. He even tweeted about it (you can see it on my Facebook wall)! Just wanted to let you know that Adam's dad went to Bronx Science. So by the transitive property... Pencils of Promise came from Bronx Science! (fun fact of the day)

UPCOMING EVENTS!
Pencils of Promise Volunteer Night - Mon. 11/14
After hearing what Pencils of Promise does, this is your chance to work with them! Their office isn't big enough to hold a large group so there are limited spots. Sign up only if you can DEFINITELY come! We will be going there after school. Click here!
Key to Your Future Application Due - Mon. 11/14 (Event on Sat. Mon. 19)
Key to Your Future Day is a day of career and college mentoring workshops, hosted by the Kiwanians of NYC Young Professionals Kiwanis in partnership with NYU Circle K and CCNY Circle K. Remember to bring a children's toy to donate to thank the Salvation Army for hosting this event. Click here to register and get access to the application!
UNICEF Boxes Collection Next Meeting - Thur. 11/17
Bring your UNICEF Boxes with your name, homeroom, and email on it to the next meeting! A better option is to put all the donations in a bag CLEARLY labeled with your name, homroom, and email so that you have the box to collect more donations. If you stay to help count the money, we will give points!
November Divisional - Thur. 11/17
There will be a Divisional after the club meeting in Bronx Science. This meeting is especially geared towards new members so if you want to learn more about Key Club International, stay! This will end at 6 pm so you can catch the 6 pm Vallo buses!
Divisional Stuffed Animals Fundraiser Sign Up - Sat. Dec. 10
Last year, Divisional 11 had an extremely successful fundraiser where we bought materials to make (super) cute stuffed animals. The toys were then donated to Toys for Tots and you could even pay extra to buy another for yourself! The time has come again for us to do this and ordering is now open! I have attached the order form and pictures of the different stuffed animals are on it (I really like the penguin!). The event will be on Tue. Dec. 20. Fill out the attached order form and bring the money to officer members in the halls or at a meeting by Sat. Dec. 10.
JCC Wrap It Up - Thur. Dec. 15
Join hundreds of teens at the biggest holiday community service program in the city. Wrap donated presents and create holiday cards for children in need. Enjoy a live DJ and entertainment, free food, and good company while helping to brighten the holidays for needy NYC kids. This is has been an especially popular Key Club event every year so this is a one that you should definitely volunteer at. Click here to register!

Recycle with the LEAP Club!
Treasurer Michelle Soto, who is also the president of the LEAP Club (League of Environmental and Animal Protection), wants to let you know that they are starting a recycling program in the school. It will be in the Biology wing. If you have any recyclables that you want to dispose of, hold onto it until you get to the Biology wing and recycle it there! The success of the program now will determine if it will spread to the whole school. We as Key Clubbers need to do service for our planet Earth--Recycle!
If you do not see yourself on the Key Club points spreadsheet, email Secretary Jessica Chan (chanm9@bxscience.edu) with your full name, homeroom, osis, and email. If your friends are not receiving emails from Key Club, tell them to email me (victoria.li415@gmail.com).

Hope you're enjoying this 3 day weekend!

[Bxscience Key Club] IMPORTANT Reminders!

Hi Key Clubbers!

This is just a reminder to you that the next Key Club meeting will be held in the Auditorium. This is a SPECIAL meeting because we are hosting guest speaker Adam Braun, the founder of Pencils of Promise, which builds schools in developing countries and trains leaders to take action at home and abroad. This is open to EVERYONE and I want you all to bring at least one friend who is not in Key Club to come! Let's give a warm welcoming to Pencils of Promise! Click here to learn more about this special meeting.

Another reminder is that the Key to Your Future's application (trust me, it's really easy to fill out!) is due this Saturday, November 12. You MUST fill out this application in order to attend. This is a day of career and college mentoring workshops held by other members of the K Family: Circle K (college) and Kiwanis. Click here to learn more and register. I definitely recommend all of you to sign up because this information is useful to all of you, regardless if you're a senior or a freshmen!

As always, continue collecting for Project ELIMINATE with your orange UNICEF box!

And remember to give us your $13 dues in an envelope with your full name, homeroom, osis, and email! I have attached the schedule of all the officers. Just email us to let us know you will met with us before or after our classes. We probably cannot collect many dues next meeting due to the speaker so please give us your dues during the school day in a correctly labeled envelope.

Hope you're having a nice day off!
