[Bxscience Key Club] Re: Project Cicero - Donate Books!

Hi everyone,

I've been getting questions on the genres of books that are acceptable for donation. Here are the guidelines"

Please DO NOT give us books with
- Broken bindings
- Torn/stained covers
- missing pages
- writing/coloring
- out of date non-fiction/reference books
- library discards

Project Cicero does not accept textbooks or adult books.

What Kinds of Books?
Yes: New and gently used hardcover and paperback books for children and young adults, including picture, early readers, reference, fiction, test prep, nonfiction and biographies.
No: Textbooks, adult books, library discards, or out of date non-fiction/reference books.

They also have a wish list (http://projectcicero.org/page/Wish%20List) so you can check that out to get some ideas. I'm assuming most of you will have books from when you were younger. Remember what books were found in the libraries of your elementary and middle schools. They can be books for really young children. When I volunteered last year, I remember that we had a whole section of the room for early readers that had those "cardboard" pages.

If you have any questions on book donation, don't hesitate to email me.

Thanks for your help!

Hello everyone!

We are volunteering at Project Cicero, which collects gently used books to redistribute to teachers to use in their classrooms. Books can be expensive and this is a great way to give books we no longer need to the next generation!

There are 2 ways you can contribute:

1. Donate books!

Bring books to Mr. McConnell in room 208. This was organized by a fellow Bronx Science student, Jimmy Peraffan!
Click here to let us know what books you have donated so we can give you points!

2. Volunteer to sort books! (Mar. 9 - Mar. 11 at Madison Square Garden)

Thanks!
